Hi Reader
There are five points to your North Star. These five areas are vital to better understanding yourself to develop better leadership habits and processes for business and life.
1. Habits
When you come to the realization that there are opportunities within your struggles, you should create an action plan that suits your personality. Start by examining your struggles every day to find those opportunities. Take something that you don't enjoy, such as traffic or a difficult co-worker, and practice finding the opportunity by adjusting your mindset. Focus on what you are grateful for about the person or situation, and keep digging, even if it's hard at first. Consistency is key, so do this every day for just a week, and you'll see more opportunities and new sides of the situation that you never saw before. You'll be able to see beyond the negative and focus on the positive possibilities.
2. Leadership
Stoicism teaches living in accordance with virtue. For a business leader, this means making decisions that are not just profitable but also ethical and responsible. It’s about prioritizing long-term value and integrity over short-term gains.
3. Inspiration
“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” Marcus Aurelius
4. Reflection (Journal prompt)
What is the hardest part about being you? (Please hit reply and let me know. I’m curious about the people who read this newsletter.)
5. Research
When you imagine something the same areas of the brain are stimulated when actually performing that action. When you imagine yourself working out, picturing yourself lifting heavy weights, you get 13.5% stronger. (1)
Hope you’ve had a great start to your New Year,
Karl
P.S. I interviewed Tim Noetzel, who is an entrepreneur and creator. He also teaches freelancers how to grow their businesses. One of my favorite parts of the interview is when Tim tells about how his professor gave him the best and worst advice and how he used it to grow his career. Listen to the interview on the Dig to Fly website or your favorite podcast player.
I help small business owners make better decisions faster by creating durable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) that help them save time and money.

Habits Understanding our beliefs is the best way to improve our careers. For example, to be more engaged in meetings, we must believe we should take notes. If we believe that we need to take notes to be more effective, then we are more likely to actually do it. We don't change because we don't think...
Hi Reader Happy Valentine’s Day! If you have someone special in your life, I hope you make some time to explain why they are so special to you. If you aren’t currently in a relationship, reach out to a close friend and let them know why they are special to you. Just making time to share appreciation for a loved one boosts the dopamine in your brain and the person you share your gratitude with. It's a win-win for you and them. 1. Habits Making time to document your patterns is very helpful....
Hi Reader There are five points to your North Star. These five areas are vital to better understanding yourself so you can develop better leadership habits and processes for business and life. 1. Habits I’m often caught in my habitual patterns of thinking, which hold me back from seeing new opportunities. A few years ago, I decided to focus my thoughts on being more grateful. When I dug into gratitude, I became more joyful. When I dug into love, I became more loving. Where your thoughts go,...
